Beautiful displays of all those Mandalas. Did you have anything displayed? Where these mandalas painted on wood or canvases?
I have a computer program that makes kaleidescopes from segments of your photographs or photographed or scanned images. You can move the segment on any part of your image you choose and you see a tiny image of your result before you choose it. Pretty cool. People into quilting uses this program.
There is something about symmetry that has always fascinated me, particularly raidial symmetry. This is the symmetry of the mandala. I have been drawing mandalas for many years. The past few years I have taken my photographs of flowers and foliage and used the computer to turn them into what I call "Botanical Mandalas". I intend to spend the year exploring the mandala form and variations on radial symmetry. I plan to keep a journal of my thoughts in this process. Over the course of the year, I hope to create (on average) a new work each week. The blog format is a perfect vehicle to chronicle text and images.
